GTA 6 gameplay drops Aug 27 — premiering on Netflix
It's happening. Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6's first real gameplay — an extended look — drops August 27, premiering on Netflix before hitting Rockstar's YouTube and the GTA VI site the same night. Despite every 'it'll get delayed' take, the November 19, 2026 release is still locked. A game this big launching its gameplay on Netflix says a lot about where 'events' are headed. 🎮
1The problem
GTA 6 hype has run for years on two trailers and zero real gameplay, leaving fans unsure what the game actually plays like — and nervous about repeated delay rumours.
2What changed
Rockstar officially confirmed an extended GTA 6 gameplay reveal (effectively Trailer 3) for August 27, premiering on Netflix and then landing on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI site the same evening. Insiders say the November 19, 2026 launch date is still on track.
3The catch
This is a curated 'extended look', not a hands-on or a review — expect a polished showcase rather than raw, unedited play. And a Netflix-first premiere means the tidiest experience is gated behind a streaming app before the free channels catch up.
4What it means for you
Block out August 27 and pick your screen — Netflix for the premiere, or Rockstar's YouTube / the GTA VI site the same night. Treat the date as locked, but keep the 'still on track for Nov 19' framing as reassuring, not guaranteed.

Samsung's zHBM: memory stacked on the GPU, 4x faster
Quietly one of the month's most important announcements: Samsung's zHBM. Instead of placing memory next to the GPU, zHBM stacks it directly on top — claiming 4x the data transfer speed of HBM4 while using just a quarter of the power. Today's AI models aren't limited by raw compute anymore; they're starved by how fast memory can feed the chip, so fixing that speeds up everything from data centres to your future phone. ⚡️
1The problem
Frontier AI models — GPT, Gemini, Claude and the rest — are no longer bottlenecked by arithmetic but by memory bandwidth: the chip can compute faster than memory can feed it data.
2What changed
At the Future of Memory and Storage conference (Aug 4), Samsung unveiled zHBM, which vertically stacks high-bandwidth memory directly on top of the GPU instead of beside it — claiming 4x the data-transfer speed of HBM4 at roughly one-quarter of the power.
3The catch
It's an architecture reveal, not a shipping product, and yields/heat at that stacking density are the hard part. Meanwhile Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron have already sold out 2027 DRAM/HBM capacity — the same squeeze that's pushing RAM and phone prices up.
4What it means for you
Expect faster AI and pricier gadgets to keep arriving together — both trace back to the same memory chips. When you buy your next phone or laptop, weight RAM and storage now rather than 'upgrading later', because that memory is only getting more expensive.

The macOS Hot Corners trick most people never touch
A macOS gem hiding in plain sight: Hot Corners. Go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock > scroll down > Hot Corners, and each of the four screen corners can trigger an action — just flick your cursor into it. Set bottom-left to Lock Screen for instant privacy, top-right to Mission Control to see every window, bottom-right to Show Desktop. Hold Command while assigning one to require Cmd+corner, so it never fires by accident. 💡
1The problem
Common Mac actions — locking the screen, seeing all your windows, clearing to the desktop — usually mean hunting for a shortcut or clicking through menus you never quite memorise.
2What changed
Hot Corners (System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Hot Corners) lets you assign each of the four screen corners an instant action triggered just by shoving your cursor there — Lock Screen, Mission Control, Show Desktop, Notification Centre and more. Holding Command while assigning adds a modifier so it only fires on Cmd+corner.
3The catch
Left un-modified, corners can trigger by accident when you reach for the menu bar or a scrollbar — which is exactly what the Command-modifier option fixes.
4What it means for you
Open Hot Corners now and set at least one — bottom-left to Lock Screen is the highest-value privacy win when you step away from your desk. No app, no shortcut to remember, just muscle memory.

Gamma turns a one-line prompt into a full deck
Tool worth your time this week: Gamma. You type a prompt — 'a 6-slide deck on India's UPI growth' — and it generates a full, designed presentation with AI images, charts and layout handled for you. It's not just decks either: docs, one-pagers and shareable webpages come out of the same box, with a genuinely usable free tier and exports to PDF, PPT and web. It won't replace a designer for a launch, but for a class, a pitch or a quick internal deck it saves you an entire evening. 🤖
1The problem
Building slides, docs or a simple webpage from a blank page eats hours on formatting and layout before you've said anything of substance — and most 'AI slide' tools spit out ugly templates.
2What changed
Gamma turns a one-line prompt into a fully designed deck, doc, one-pager or webpage — AI images, charts and layout included — with a genuinely usable free tier and exports to PDF, PPT and web.
3The catch
It's built for speed, not pixel-perfect brand control; for a high-stakes launch you'll still want a real designer, and the free tier has credit limits.
4What it means for you
Next time you need a class deck, a pitch or a quick internal one-pager, start in Gamma instead of a blank slide — you'll save an evening of formatting and only tweak from there.

myth buster
Your VPN is a privacy tool, not an invisibility cloak
Time to bust one the ads won't tell you: 'Get a VPN and be 100% anonymous online.' What a VPN actually does is hide your IP and browsing from your ISP and encrypt your traffic on sketchy public WiFi — genuinely useful. What it does not do: log you out of Google or Instagram (you're still signed in and tracked), kill cookies and browser fingerprinting, or hide you from the VPN company itself. A shady 'free' VPN can be worse than your ISP. Pick a paid, no-logs provider and use it for what it's actually good at. 🕵️
1The problem
VPN ads sell 'total anonymity', so people trust a VPN to make them untraceable — then behave as if they're invisible when they're still fully logged in and fingerprinted.
2What changed
The honest picture: a VPN reroutes and encrypts your traffic, hiding your IP and activity from your ISP and protecting you on public WiFi. That's real value — but it's about privacy in transit, not anonymity.
3The catch
You're still identified by your logins, cookies and browser fingerprint, and the VPN provider itself sees your traffic — so a free, ad-funded 'no-logs' VPN can be a bigger privacy risk than your ISP.
4What it means for you
Use a VPN for what it's good at — public WiFi and hiding activity from your ISP — and choose a reputable paid, audited no-logs provider. Don't rely on it to make you anonymous; log out, clear cookies and mind your fingerprint for that.
That's all five. Next edition tomorrow.Press and hold
